Mayan Days & Nights

I saw a great quote the other day: “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it rhymes.” I think by looking at the cycles of the Mayan Calendar, we can see how true that is.

Each of the Underworlds is composed of 13 “Heavens” or sections. These are divided up into “Days” and “Nights”. Each day is followed by a night. The length of each day or night depends on the length of the Underworld. I’ve marked the cycles we are currently in.

By looking at previous Underworlds and the underlying themes to each day or night, we can get an idea of what sort of things to expect in coming days/nights. One thing to remember is that the coming days and nights are and will be much much shorter than days and nights in previous Underworlds. Take for example, Night 5. It can seem a little scary to look at the events from the past. However, Night 5 from the National Underworld took 395 YEARS and the upcoming Night 5 in the Galactic Underworld will only last 360 DAYS. Makes things a little easier to handle, if you ask me. Then the Universal Underworld will only last 20 days. Talk about things speeding up!

The following information came from Carl Johan Calleman’s The Mayan Calendar and The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness. I’ve combined the charts he provides in the books, so that all the events from each day or night are listed together. I find it easier to see the overall patterns. I highly recommend both of these books, especially the latter.

If anyone has events to add to this, I’d love to hear them.
